To warn local train commuters about the risks of unsafe travelling, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Mumbai has decided to run a campaign, with Danish Khan being the face of the awareness initiative.

Speaking over the innovative thought, GRP commissioner Qaisar Khalid said that the decision to turn Khan into a caveat for all the gadabouts, who unthinkingly pull such capers, was arrived at after he showed profuse remorse for his act and swore never to endanger his life like this again."

“We want to use Danish Khan for our campaign to raise awareness against perilous stunts and risky ways of commuting such as on the rooftop," he said.

The 19-year-old Khan had a near-death experience on Thursday when he had a fall from a running local train. A video of the incident has since gone viral. In the clip, it can be seen that Khan is dangling from the door of a local train, loses grip due to train movement and falls off between Kalwa and Thane. However, the teen survived the mishap with injuries.

Post the near-fatal mishap, a terrified Khan was grateful that he got a second lease of life and vowed that he would never repeat the deadly act. “Footboard travel is very dangereous it could be fatal, people need to avoid it. Thank god I am alive, it’s a miracle but miracles don't happen every day," he said.

After the incident, he walked till the road with somebody’s help and was later taken to the hospital. According to Khan, his bag and local train’s slow speed were crucial in saving his life.

Just like every other train traveller, he was carrying his bag on his chest. As the bag had a filled water bottle and clothes, these items acted like a cushion when Khan had a fall. However, he suffered fractures on left hand and leg, but he is out of danger now.
