Another landslide was reported near Waghoba Khind near Dhekale village on Mumbai Ahmedabad National Highway on Wednesday morning. The traffic towards Ahmedabad was hit and only one lane of traffic was opened so as to clear the debris. After 9 hours, debris was removed but caution was issued to motorists to drive cautiously by Manor police.
"The spot is located 17 km from Manor where the landslide was reported and fortunately no casualties were reported," said an official of the Manor police. We informed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) which constructed the highway and they rushed JCBs and excavators to remove the debris.
As a result traffic towards Ahmedabad was delayed and only one lane was opened and traffic was crawling at snail's pace and by 4 p.m., debris was removed after 9 hours, said the official.
"We will clear the muck of boulders and wet soil once the rains slow down as it is difficult for earthmovers to remove the debris as it is risky due to issues of skidding," said the official and added that by Wednesday late night both lanes towards Ahmedabad will be normal. Due to the landslide, even the Mumbai-bound traffic was hit for 4 hours.
Due to incessant rains, water logging was reported at Mastan Naka(towards Mumbai), Ten Naka(towards Wada-Bhiwandi) though the Traffic Police was regulating the traffic.
