Another Hit-And-Run In Mumbai: Audi Hits Rickshaw In Mulund Injuring 3, Video surfaces

Mumbai: A hit-and-run incident occurred on Monday morning in the Mulund area when an Audi car collided with two auto-rickshaws injuring two rickshaw drivers and two passengers. The driver of the car, Vijay Dattatry Gore, 43, a resident of Kanjurmarg, allegedly fled the scene after causing the accident by abandoning his car at the spot. After hours of search operation for the accused, he was arrested from his sister’s residence where he was hiding.

The incident took place between 6:15 to 6:30 am at the dumping road, also called Dindayal Upadhyay Marg in Mulund West. According to Mulund police, who are investigating the incident, Vijay Dattatry Gore was driving his Audi towards Mumbai when he collided with an auto-rickshaw directly in front of him.

The impact was so severe that the first auto-rickshaw then struck another one ahead of it, causing both vehicles to skid and overturn. The collision resulted in extensive damage to both autos, leaving the drivers and two passengers from each rickshaw with severe injuries. Witnessing the incident unfold before him, Gore hastily exited his vehicle and fled towards Bhandup in a state of distress.

Shortly after, the police were alerted about the accident, and they began rescuing the victims. All the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment. The victims are identified as Santosh Walkar, 49, and Vivek Jaiswal, 26, who were driving the autos, and Prakash Jadhav, 46, and Hanamant Chavan, 57, who were passengers.

According to the police, Jadhav works for BEST and lives in Thane; he was on his way to work. Chavan, who works for the railway, was also on his way to work when the accident occurred. After an extensive search operation, Gore was arrested from his sister's residence in Kanjurmarg where he was hiding.
