When Rakesh Roshan Discovered 75% Blockage In Both Carotid Arteries During Routine Health Check-Up
Despite showing no symptoms, Roshan was informed that such blockages significantly increase the risk of stroke, a potentially fatal or life-altering condition

Veteran actor and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan recently took to Instagram to share a personal health update that’s raising awareness about the importance of regular medical screenings. In a candid post, he revealed how a simple yet thorough health check-up potentially saved his life.
During a routine full-body check-up, a suggestion from his doctor to include a neck sonography alongside the usual heart scan revealed a shocking truth: over 75% blockage in both his carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain. Despite showing no symptoms, Roshan was informed that such blockages significantly increase the risk of stroke, a potentially fatal or life-altering condition.
Prompt action and recovery
Understanding the gravity of the situation, Roshan wasted no time and got himself admitted to the hospital to undergo preventive procedures. The actor confirmed in his post that he is now back home and recovering well. He also shared a cheerful picture with the medical team that helped him through the process.

In his post, Roshan highlighted the importance of preventive health care, especially after 45. “I hope this inspires others to take their health seriously, get that heart CT, and don’t skip carotid artery scans,” he advised. He stressed how many people overlook carotid sonography, not realizing it can detect serious risks before symptoms even appear.

The post garnered supportive comments from fans and fellow actors. Tiger Shroff commented, “Looking great sir." Others also sent wishes for his speedy recovery. One fan summed up the collective sentiment: “May God bless you with a healthy life.”
What is Carotid Artery disease?
Carotid artery disease occurs when plaque builds up inside the carotid arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow to the brain. According to Mayo Clinic, it’s one of the leading causes of stroke, which can cause irreversible brain damage or even death within minutes if not treated immediately.
Why regular health screenings matter?
Roshan’s story serves as a powerful reminder that asymptomatic conditions can still pose serious risks. Regular full-body check-ups, including often-neglected scans like carotid artery sonography, can detect hidden problems early.
Doctors recommend that individuals, especially those aged 45 and above, undergo heart and brain-related screenings regularly, even if they feel perfectly healthy.
