Kim Kardashian has never been one to shy away from sharing her personal health and wellness routines, but her latest revelation has ignited a fierce debate online. The 44-year-old reality star recently revealed that she travelled to Mexico to undergo an advanced stem cell treatment for her long-standing shoulder and back pain, praising the results as “life-changing”.

Kim Kardashian's stem cell therapy
In an Instagram post, Kardashian shared that her shoulder injury began two years ago after she tore it while weightlifting. The damage, she said, left her with “debilitating” pain and limited mobility. Despite trying multiple treatments in the United States, nothing worked until she visited Dr Adeel Khan at Eterna, a medical clinic in Mexico.
She explained that the Muse stem cell procedure restored her full range of motion and left her shoulder “completely normal.” Encouraged by those results, she returned to the clinic to address her chronic back pain.
“The Muse stem cell treatment was a game-changer once again,” she wrote. “I felt relief instantly, and the unbearable pain was finally gone. If you’re dealing with back pain, I can’t recommend this enough—it’s transformed my life when I thought my body was breaking down.” She thanked Dr Khan and his team for “giving me hope when I thought I had none left.”
While Kardashian’s recovery story drew admiration from some followers, it also sparked frustration and criticism. The treatment is reportedly not available in the U.S. and can cost between $4,000 and $15,000 per procedure, according to Global Stem Cell Therapy.

In America, such therapies are often limited by ethical debates and regulatory restrictions, especially regarding embryonic stem cells, although many procedures use non-embryonic sources like umbilical cords or bone marrow.
Kim faces backlash
For critics, Kardashian’s post highlighted the divide between the medical options available to the wealthy and those accessible to everyday people. One Instagram user commented, “Me just living with the pain because I ain’t a millionaire.”

Others noted the wider issue of healthcare inequality, with one follower saying, “If only it was accessible to everyone and not a luxury when it comes to health.”
