'Wife Swap' Saves Life Of Two Men In Dire Need Of Kidney Transplant In Madhya Pradesh
Then, two women, driven by love for their husbands, stepped up to donate their kidneys to save each other’s spouses.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 'wife swap' in Indore saved the lives of two men in dire need of kidney transplants.
One patient, a 31-year-old man, couldn’t receive a kidney from his wife due to mismatched blood groups—his was A positive, hers was B positive. Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man was facing a similar problem in another hospital. His mother, initially considered a donor, wasn’t suitable because of her age, and his wife’s blood group didn’t match his.
The information circulated in the medical circles, and after due tests, the doctors suggested a 'wife swap'.
Then, two women, driven by love for their husbands, stepped up to donate their kidneys to save each other’s spouses.
The doctor's idea: Wife Swap
Both women agreed to donate their kidneys to the other patient, creating a perfect match. But this wasn’t as simple as it sounds. Approval had to be secured from SOTO (State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization), and both transplants had to happen simultaneously to avoid any complications.
On the scheduled day, the teams worked in perfect coordination, successfully completing the procedure. This groundbreaking inter-hospital kidney swap transplant, claimed to be the first in the state, not only saved lives but also proved the power of collaboration and selflessness.
Two families are now celebrating a second chance at life—all because two women, who chose to turn an impossible situation into an inspiring story.
