Ujjain: Polling to three-tier panchayat bodies concludes

84.99% voting in Tarana, 87.50% in Mahidpur

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): In the last phase of the three-tier Panchayat body elections on Friday, votes were cast in Tarana and Mahidpur janpad panchayats of the district. Tarana recorded about two and a half per cent fewer turnout as compared to Mahidpur. According to the data which came after 3 pm, 84.99 per cent polling was recorded in Tarana and 87.50 per cent in Mahidpur.

In the Panchayat elections, voting was done for the members of the Gram Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat. Long queues were seen outside polling stations for voting that began at 7 am. Till 11 am in Tarana, 46.77 percent voting was done and in Mahidpur 46.94 per cent voting was done.

Collector Asheesh Singh also inspected the voting of the Panchayat elections. He saw the arrangements in Tarana’s Gram Panchayat Dhabla Hardu and talked to the people. SP Satyendra Kumar Shukla was also with him. Tents were arranged at the polling stations to protect the voters from the rains. A lot of enthusiasm was seen among men as well as women regarding voting. A total of 87.04% male and 82.88% female and 89.01% male and 85.94% female voters exercisd their franchise in Tarana and Mahidpur Janpada Panchayats, respectively.

Long queues of voters were also seen in Parsauli, Gram Panchayat of Tarana district. This centre was also inspected by the collector and SP. With this, all the three phases of Panchayat body elections in Ujjain district have been completed.
