Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a step towards empowering women and promoting road safety awareness, Indore Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the Transport Department and Traffic Police, has launched the "Traffic Shakti" free learning licence camp across all municipal zones in the city.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav said that the initiative commenced on Sunday and will run from 10 am to 2 pm daily at various municipal offices. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with a large number of women and female students gathering to take advantage of the free learning licence registration.
Teams from the Regional Transport Office (RTO), traffic mitras and municipal staff are stationed at each camp location to assist applicants with the licensing process.
Bhargav highlighted the importance of the programme, stating, “This initiative aims to familiarise women with the driving licence process, encourage self-reliance and ensure active female participation in maintaining traffic discipline in Indore.” He also appealed to all women across the city to seize this opportunity and take a crucial step toward empowerment and independence.
The "Traffic Shakti" campaign is expected to run in the coming days, helping hundreds of women take the wheel—both literally and metaphorically—towards a safer and more inclusive traffic ecosystem.
