Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Electricity consumers will soon be able to scan a QR code, linked to their bill amount, for quick and hassle-free payment. Madhya Pradesh Electricity Distribution Company managing director Rajni Singh announced plans to introduce QR code-based electricity bill payment system during a review meeting of electricity officials from all the 15 districts in Malwa-Nimar region.
For smart meter users, she assured that disconnected electricity due to pending bills would automatically reconnect shortly after cashless payment, eliminating the need to visit distribution centers. She said that every officer should make maximum efforts to live up to the priorities of the Energy Department and the electricity company and added that negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
Rajni Singh reviewed meter testing, smart meter, commerce faculty, vigilance, maintenance, operation, work faculty, human resource faculty etc. Singh instructed officials to ensure timely revenue collection and work to reduce transformer failure rates. She reiterated that outstanding dues should be minimized with a gradual reduction in pending amounts from consumers.
Chief engineers and superintending engineers were assigned full responsibility for electricity-related operations in their regions. Officials were directed to assess consumers' actual electricity loads and update them as needed, ensuring compliance with prescribed rules.
Key topics such as the Roof Top Solar Net Meter Scheme, RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme), and SSTD (System Strengthening and Distribution Transformation) were also discussed. Senior officials, including chief general manager Prakash Singh Chauhan and director Sachin Talewar, shared their views during the meeting.
