Alot (Madhya Pradesh): People living near Vikramgarh Crossing Number 21 can now breathe easier. The long-awaited Railway Overbridge (ROB) at the crossing is finally moving ahead quickly, with officials saying the work order is likely to be given to the contractor by April 15.
Residents face daily hardship at the crossing because of heavy traffic. Officials said the overbridge will be built entirely at the cost of the Railway Department, with no burden on the public.
The project was delayed after new Railway rules, SSOR-2021, required changes to the design and budget. The revised drawing plan, GAD, was approved in June 2025, after which officials continued regular follow-up to keep the project on track.
Land-related work is also progressing quickly. After the process under Section 20A was completed, the proposal under Section 20E was uploaded to the e-Gazette portal on Apr 1, 2026. In the tender process, technical bids have been checked and financial bids are under review.
Officials asked people not to believe false reports and to trust the process. They said that if the work order is issued by April 15 as planned, construction will begin soon, bringing relief to thousands of commuters affected by daily traffic jams.
