Mhow Communal Clash: 17 Detained, 12 Injured After Crowd Celebrating India's Champions Trophy Win Attacked With Stones

Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): As many as 17 persons were detained by the police in relation to the alleged communal clashes that occurred outside Jama Masjid in Mhow of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night. At least 12 people sustained injuries in the clash.
The conflict broke out after a minority group started pelting stones on a crowd celebrating Team India's Champion Trophy win. The fight escalated as both groups started hitting each other. They vandalising vehicles, set shops on fire.
Clarifying the issue, the Imam of Jama Masjid said that they were offering prayers in the mosque when a procession passed from outside and some miscreant allegedly threw a bomb. This led to panic among them, and they attacked with stones in self-defence.

According to Indore Rural SP Hitika Wasal, a large police force from nearby police stations and the reserved police had arrived at Mhow late at night on Sunday. Also, senior police officials came to Mhow and took stock of the situation here.
Three cars and a dozen two-wheelers were attacked and were set afire. At least 12 persons were injured in stone pelting, and one person's right arm was fractured. Police are investigating all five incidents in Taal Mohalla, Sewa Marg, Patti Bazar, Manek Chowk, and Jama Masjid areas.
All video footage of CCTV and those shot by various mobile phones are being examined to ascertain the identities of those accused of arson, vandalism, and stone pelting.
