Madhya Pradesh: Plan To Reduce Accidents, Improve Road Safety In Khargone

Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): In a proactive move to enhance road safety and reduce accidents, district administration has announced plans to improve identified blind spots and accident-prone areas on highways.

The initiative includes the installation of signboards, side shoulders, radium/cat-eye markers, warning boards, rumble strips, crash barriers and speed breakers.

Additionally, the administration will remove encroachments along roads, prune bushes, and update road markings to improve visibility.

In Khargone city, the administration will address encroachments by fruit vendors and shop operators that obstruct traffic at key locations, including Sadbhavna Marg, Bawdi Bus Stand, and Radhavallabh Market. Trees and poles that hinder traffic flow will also be removed.

Measures such as installing no-parking boards and enforcing traffic rules will be implemented to ensure smoother traffic movement.

These corrective actions are expected to be completed within a month, following a meeting of the district road safety committee chaired by Collector Bhavya Mittal and SP Dharmaraj Meena.

Furthermore, the district has launched Rahveer Yojana, appointing the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) as the Grievance Redressal Officer. This scheme offers a ₹25,000 incentive to citizens who transport injured individuals to hospitals promptly.

Injured persons can also receive up to ₹1.5 lakh in cashless treatment at registered hospitals. Awareness campaigns will promote the use of seat belts and helmets, particularly among youth, to further reduce road accidents in the district.
