Madhya Pradesh: Man Gets Life Term For Raping Minor In Jhabua | FPJ
Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old man from Ranapur has been sentenced to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl. The verdict was delivered by additional sessions and special judge (POCSO Act), Subhash Sunhare, in district court of Jhabua.
Incident took place on March 16, 2021, when the victim’s parents had gone to attend a court hearing in Jhabua. When they returned home in evening their daughter was missing.
Despite searching in nearby areas and at relatives’ places, they were unable to find their daughter. Suspecting abduction, the family complained at Jhabua police station, naming Rohit Baberiya as the suspect.
Following investigations, police traced the minor and arrested the accused. Based on the evidence collected, additional charges under Sections 366, 376, 376(2) (n) of the IPC and Sections 5(L)/6, 5(j)(ii)/6 of the POCSO Act were added.
Special public prosecutor Manisha Muvel represented the prosecution. Apart from life term, court also imposed a fine of ₹ 5,000 on the convict.
