Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): "Due to the wrong policies of the central government, soybean is not getting a fair price, it should be purchased at the support price," said local farmers when Congress leaders met them on Saturday.
Malhargarh Block Congress president Anil Sharma, City Congress president Ramprasad Farkya and Mandal president Dinesh Gupta Kacharia reached Krishi Upaj Mandi and discussed with farmers who came to sell soybean and other produce.
Farmers Surajmal Vyas, Ghanshyam Gir, Narendra Singh Dorwada, Chaman Singh Kangatti, and Devendra Meghwal said they are bearing the brunt of wrong and anti-farmer policies of the Modi government. They do not want Kisan Samman Nidhi but want reasonable prices for their crops.
With inflation at its peak, prices of fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides are skyrocketing daily. Even after working hard day and night, their produce is being sold at very low prices. Farmers cannot recover even labour wages, making farming a loss-making deal. Currently, soybean is being sold only for ₹3,300 to ₹4,200.
Block Congress president Sharma also blamed anti-farmer policies and capitalist-friendly policies for farmers not getting reasonable prices. Edible oil imports and Chinese garlic entering India with government support are hurting local farmers.
