Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indoreans created a ruckus after police stopped bhajans at a temple on the night of Mahashivratri on Wednesday.

The angry locals, led by the temple priest, marched to the Vijay Nagar area police station and questioned the cops, "Why don't you take action against the loud music in pubs?"

The incident happened at the Goddess Kalka temple in the Vijay Nagar area late on Wednesday, where the devotees had organized a bhajan program.

As the police reached the temple and instructed the temple committee to halt bhajans, the devotees raised objections and termed it 'bias'.

They said while the temple was asked to stop bhajans on time, pubs in the area played loud music late into the night.

Agitated devotees gathered outside Revolution and Farzi pubs, demanding action against them as well. Priest Rahul Yadav alleged that when extra time was sought for bhajans, police officers threatened to seize their sound system.

He also vowed to launch a movement against the pubs and to report the issue to the local administration and the chief minister.

Vijay Nagar police station in charge Chandrakant Patel informed the Free Press that following the protest, a case was filed against the manager of Revolution pub under the Noise Pollution Act and the sound system was shut down.

Deepesh Motwani, the pub owner, informed the Free Press that he was given a license by the government to run the pub and that he was following the instructions of the district administration while running the pubs. He said that he and other pub owners would also meet the district collector regarding the issue.
