Indore: Quality Concerns Surface In Drainage Project

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Serious lapses in quality and execution have come to light in the ongoing drainage construction works in Indore, following a surprise inspection conducted on Wednesday by additional municipal commissioner (Drainage) Rohit Sisonia.

The inspection focused on projects underway in Zone No 11, specifically in Indira Ekta Nagar (Ward No 54), where the drainage work was found falling short of expected standards. Complaints from local residents regarding poor workmanship and delays prompted the unannounced visit, which confirmed widespread concerns.

Sisonia expressed strong dissatisfaction with both the pace and quality of the work, noting that the current state of construction was unacceptable and could lead to further public inconvenience, especially with the monsoon season approaching.

He issued strict instructions to the zonal officer and the deputy engineer to expedite the project without compromising quality and ensure that the local population does not suffer due to administrative or contractor negligence.

Taking the matter further, he ordered assistant engineer Laxmikant Vajpayee to issue a show cause notice to the contractor responsible and to submit a disciplinary action proposal in accordance with the terms outlined in the tender agreement.

“The Indore Municipal Corporation cannot tolerate laxity in public works, especially those impacting daily life and sanitation. Accountability will be enforced,” said Sisonia during the site visit.
