Indore (Madhya Pradesh): As many as 2,656 electricity-related cases were amicably resolved during the second National Lok Adalat of the year under the jurisdiction of the MP West Zone Electricity Distribution Company.
The settlement led to a total waiver of around Rs 89 lakh offering significant financial relief to thousands of consumers.
These resolved cases involved civil liabilities totaling Rs 4.87 crore, with 2,274 of them pertaining to cases with civil liabilities under Rs 10 lakh. Eligible consumers received rebates as per the company's guidelines and legal provisions.
To facilitate smooth and widespread participation, preparations were undertaken across 425 zones, including local distribution centres and company offices in 15 districts under the West Zone. The drive targeted disputes involving electricity theft and irregularities registered under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
Thousands of notices were issued ahead of the Lok Adalat to encourage settlements. The initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce legal backlogs while offering practical, time-bound resolutions to power-related disputes.
