Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Following the ragging incident in the boys’ hostel, MGM Medical College administration has enhanced the security measures including installing CCTV cameras to cover the black spots in the hostel.
Moreover, the students of 2024 batch were shifted to a separate hostel, and additional safeguards have been implemented to ensure their safety.
“The Boys Hostel Block-2 now has increased CCTV coverage, extending beyond the entrance to include corridors, staircases, the rooftop, and the dining hall.
Entry of senior batch students into this hostel has also been strictly prohibited, providing a safer environment for juniors,” the college officials said. The college also installed extra lighting across the premises, addressing the earlier issue of darkness in the hostel grounds.
Additionally, the once-neglected campus, littered with garbage and liquor bottles, has been thoroughly cleaned.
“Efforts are underway to identify potential "black spots" within the campus—areas prone to ragging—and plans are in place to install cameras at these locations as well.
We are getting the campus cleaned on a war footing and also taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the students,’ in-charge dean Dr VP Pandey said.
Meanwhile, no names of senior students have emerged in connection with the allegations after the hostel residents denied any incidents of ragging.
