Indore: Doctors Advise Angioplasty For Godman Asaram |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Self-styled godman Asaram, who is currently serving a life sentence in rape cases involving a minor and a woman, was advised angioplasty by doctors at Indore’s Super Specialty Hospital on Saturday. The recommendation came after Asaram underwent an ECG, echocardiogram, and other cardiac tests, which revealed two significant blockages in his heart, said hospital sources.
However, a final decision is expected to be taken by Asaram and his disciples, who remain closely involved in his care and medical decisions.
Asaram's visit to the hospital drew public attention, with a large crowd of followers gathering outside. He spent approximately an hour inside the hospital, during which floor access was restricted to ensure privacy and security.
Asaram arrived in a wheelchair and remained seated throughout his visit. He did not interact much with hospital staff or visitors. This wasn’t his first visit to the hospital. He had earlier undergone a similar check-up at the same facility on February 19 this year.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan High Court has extended Asaram’s temporary bail till August 12, citing his deteriorating health condition and the need for continued medical care. The court’s double bench allowed the extension, which enabled Asaram to be out of jail during Guru Purnima, marking the first such occasion he has spent outside prison in a long time.
