Indore: COVID-19 cases rising; 105 cases found in 2 days, including 49 on Tuesday

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The number of Covid-19 cases continued to surge in the city as 105 cases were reported in the past two days in Indore, including the highest number of cases in a day in the past couple of months (56 cases on July 4). Meanwhile, 49 more patients tested positive on Tuesday and the total number of positive patients has reached 208,905, so far.

A decrease in sampling has pushed the positivity rate up as only 559 samples were tested on Tuesday. Officials, however, said that most of the patients found positive were asymptomatic and many were unaware of the fact that they were suffering from the pandemic disease.

“Many people who visited hospitals for treatment of other diseases or for planned surgery were found positive. Now, we’ll have to live with the disease and it’s better for the people to remain vigilant and follow all the norms to prevent the disease as they were doing for many months,” nodal officer for Covid-19 Dr Amit Malakar said. He added that, with the decreasing number of cases, people have stopped wearing masks, using sanitisers and following social distancing.

Another senior health officer, too, appealed to the people to remain cautious as fluctuations in the weather might trigger cases as seasonal diseases are already increasing. On July 5, the total number of active cases was only 304 in the city as 46 patients were discharged on Tuesday.
