Indore (Madhya Pradesh): “Before we raise awareness among others, we must first become aware ourselves,” said BJP district president Shravan Chavda while addressing a child marriage awareness workshop held in Nainod village.
The event was organised by the district administration, women and child development department and gram panchayat Nainod.
Chavda emphasised that every individual must begin change from home to completely eradicate child marriage. District Panchayat member Dilip Patel administered an oath to participants, pledging their support to end this social evil.
Sarpanch Surendra Singh Solanki informed that details of every marriage in the panchayat will be collected through the Paanch Sutri method and early marriage cases will be prevented through family counselling.
Mahendra Pathak from the “bal vivah virodhi guldaasta” explained legal consequences under the prohibition of the Child Marriage Act, highlighting that even service providers involved in such marriages can face legal action.
Project officer Mamta Karnese urged citizens to spread awareness in their families and neighbourhoods, elaborating on the problems linked with child marriage.
Panch Neha Jain, child welfare officer Bhagwan Das Sahu, Anganwadi workers and other key contributors like Devendra Kumar Pathak and Shailesh Sharma were present. Ashish Goswami delivered the vote of thanks.
