Indore: 9,000 employees and officers to be deployed for IMC polls
The training programme of the different polling parties will start on June 28. Action will be taken against those absent from the training programme
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Over 9,000 employees and staff of the state and central governments will be deployed for polling in the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections, which are scheduled for July 6. The training programme for this is going to start on Tuesday.
Extensive preparations are going on for the IMC elections. The training sessions of these over 9,000 employees will start on June 28 and will continue till July 1.
Collector and District Election Officer Manish Singh has directed that all the officers and employees appointed in the polling parties should compulsorily participate in the training programmes. Action will be taken against those who absent themselves from the training. The training programmes are being organised at Holkar Science College.
On Tuesday, one session of the training programme will be held from 10 am to 1 pm. Thereafter, the training programme will be conducted in two sessions daily. The first training session will be from 10 am to 1 pm and the second session will be from 2 pm to 5 pm. It has been informed that training will be given to 1,100 polling personnel on the first day of training. After this, 2,800 polling personnel will be trained every day.
On the first day, the training programme will be organised in 22 rooms simultaneously. From the second day, this training programme will be held in 28 rooms. The training programme will include the presiding officer, polling officer No.1, polling officer No.2 and polling officer No.3.
Canvassing banned within 100 metres of poll booths
On the day of voting, canvassing within a 100-metre radius of polling booths will be banned. The ban is imposed under Section 6 of the Madhya Pradesh Local Authorities (Election Offences) Act, 1964. The candidates—or their supporters—cannot conduct any such kind of activity. All the contesting candidates have also been informed about the above instructions. Joint collector and Deputy District Election Officer Munish Singh Sikarwar informed that, to conduct the elections in a peaceful manner, instructions will have to be strictly followed by everyone. Violation of the instructions will fall under the category of a crime under the Act.
