Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Four men claiming to be members of a Hindu outfit allegedly assaulted a dairyman transporting his three cows near Rijlay Phata under Gandhi Nagar police station limits on Saturday evening. The accused demanded money and abused the farmer, threatening to stop him from taking his cows home. The police detained all the accused following a complaint.
Additional DCP (zone-1) Alok Kumar Sharma said that one Yuvraj Singh Rathod, a resident of GNT Market, lodged a complaint that he was returning from Yashwant Sagar Gaushala with his three cows in his personal loading vehicle when two men stopped him near Navalpanta, Rijlay Phata.

The men questioned him about the cows and demanded Rs 5,000, claiming to be members of Bajrang Dal. When the dairyman refused to pay, saying the cows were his own and he was taking them home, the duo started abusing him. When he objected, they assaulted him. Soon, two more men joined in, also claiming to be the Hindu outfit members, and assaulted and abused him. The accused fled the scene as locals intervened.
The accused have been identified as Sanjay Agrawal of Hatod, Banshiram Beragi of Hatod, Leeladhar of Depalpur and Anil of Gandhinagar.
The police registered a case against the accused under sections 119(1), 296, 115(2) and 3(5) of the BNS. The four men have been detained and further investigation is underway.
