Indore: 10 notes can be exchanged at a time without ID from today
Exchange can be done through regular counters only
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The exchange or deposit of currency notes of the value of Rs 2000 will start in all banks from Tuesday. Only 10 notes can be exchanged\deposited at a time, but there is no need for any identity card.
The discontinuation of the Rs 2000 currency notes was announced by RBI on Friday night, but there has been very little impact on the day-to-day workings in the market, mainly because not many notes of this denomination were in circulation.
Sunil Dhaka, lead district manager (LDM) informed on Monday that from Tuesday to September 30, anyone can deposit the notes in the banks. 10 notes of Rs 2000 can be exchanged at a time.
On the issue of taking the identity card or deposit slip the policy of various banks is different.
However, the exchange or the deposit of the notes will be done from the regular counter. There are over 625 branches of all banks including public sector, private and cooperative sector in the district.
Dhaka said that notes can be changed with the help of business correspondents of the banks.
Banking sources said RBI has issued no separate guidelines for depositing currency notes of Rs 2000.
Therefore, anyone can deposit as many 2000 notes in their accounts as they want.
