IIT Indore To Offer Degree Courses To Army Officers
A series of events was planned during the day and Dr Rajesh Gokhale, secretary, department of biotechnology (DBT), Government of India was the chief guest.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After making hi-tech gadgets for the armed forces, the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore has announced plans to launch bachelor’s and master’s courses for army officers. “We will offer Bachelor of Design programme and MTech programme in communication and information systems (for army officers of Military College of Telecommunication Engineering) ”, IIT Indore director Prof Suhas Joshi said at a programme organised to celebrate the institute’s 16th Foundation Day on Monday.

Sharing the achievement of the institute, Joshi said, “Last year has seen a big change in major projects. We got major projects worth 40 crore last year. We have been granted 76 patents, which include two international patents. In 2024, 35 patents of IIT Indore were approved for financial assistance.”
He added, “Apart from the transit lab inaugurated today, we are building another laboratory complex on a 15000 sq ft area. The construction of four classrooms, each having a capacity of 100 students, has also begun. The hostel under the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jati Abhyuday Yojana (PM AJAY) and Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojna is nearing completion. Three new hostels with a capacity of housing 800 students are being built. These hostels will help the Institute to raise the students’ accommodation capacity to over 5,000.” The major attraction of the day was the inauguration of the transit lab complex “Samvardhan Technology Advancement Complex.”
It is a complex with four laboratories built on an area of 433 sqm. The building also has a rainwater harvesting facility with an encatchment of around 2.62 lakh litres annually. Gokhale hailed the institute for its glorious 16 years and said, “I am excited to see such young and bright faculty and students. You are Gen Z who would be defining Viksit Bharat. Your ideas, innovation, enthusiasm and fearlessness will take our country to the centre stage of the global arena.”
