Education In Crisis: Nearly 100 Schools In Madhya Pradesh's Barwani Struggle With Crumbling Infrastructure & Lack Of Buildings
The situation is especially bad in tribal areas like Chervi Gram Panchayat. One school there has been running in a hut since 2010 when floods destroyed its building.

Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Nearly 100 schools in Barwani district are experiencing significant infrastructure issues, highlighting a gap between government promises and actual situation on the ground. Out of these, 24 primary and middle schools have no buildings, while 79 other school buildings are falling apart. In Temla village under Silavad area, 35 children from grades 1 to 5 study in a hut.
‘A villager built a mud hut on his land using bricks and cow dung plaster. We cover it with plastic during rain,’ a resident said. Janpad member Pratap Mehta said that he has attempted to seek assistance numerous times by submitting applications to former cabinet minister Prem Singh Patel, Rajya Sabha MP Sumer Singh Solanki and Lok Sabha MP Gajendra Singh Patel. However, no action was taken.
The situation is especially bad in tribal areas like Chervi Gram Panchayat. One school there has been running in a hut since 2010 when floods destroyed its building. Similar problems exist in other villages like Sagbara Mathmal, Mendki Mal and Borkund. Despite government claims of spending lots of money on tribal area development and high-tech schools like CM Rise and PM Shri, many children still study in unsafe conditions.
According to information, teachers in some places have moved classes to private buildings because their school buildings are too dangerous to use. District Planning Committee's (DPC) construction branch in-charge Rajneesh Rao confirmed these problems and said that in the district, 79 school buildings are in dilapidated condition and 24 schools have no buildings at all. We have asked the government to build new schools, he added.
