Competitive Exam Aspirants In Indore To Get Longer Study Hours At Ahilya Library

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Government Shri Ahilya Central Library will soon extend its opening hours to give competitive exam aspirants more time and a better study environment.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the library’s advisory committee chaired by Divisional Commissioner Bhaskar Lakshkar on Saturday.

Lakshkar directed officials to open the library earlier and extend its closing time at night, keeping the needs of students preparing for competitive examinations in mind.

He also interacted with students and sought their suggestions on improving study facilities.

The Commissioner directed the library management to prepare a digital catalogue of books and journals so that readers can check the available collection from home.

Efforts will be made to place the catalogue in the public domain or on the ORA software.

He also ordered mapping of books purchased or acquired by the committee over the past 10 years.

A separate corner will be created for rare and valuable old books, gazettes and journals, with special arrangements for their preservation and monitoring.

Lakshkar further directed officials to prepare and implement an SOP for smooth functioning of the Pritamlal Dua Auditorium and ensure basic facilities for readers. He also suggested taking assistance from DIET for library upgradation and research.
