Barod: Woman sarpanch candidate loses, registers complaint

Barod (Madhya Pradesh): Lodhakhedi gram panchayat which falls under Barod Janpad panchayat in Agar district stormed into the news after one of the sarpanch post candidates Munnabai, wife of Chandralal complained to the returning officer after she allegedly lost elections by two votes.

She reached the collector's office along with her supporters and submitted the application to the returning officer. Nonetheless, only the votes have been counted so far. The official results will be released on July 14.

In the application, the complainant was also accused of cancelling the ballot paper under pressure. She said that there are three polling stations in the gram panchayat Lodhakhedi, in which her votes were rejected under pressure.

Even though the votes polled were more, it was called an equal vote. Though the announcement was not made, it was told that the members of the polling party kept counting till 10 o'clock at night due to the woman (SC) sarpanch candidate who was illiterate.

The candidate claimed that there was a ruckus and an attempt was made to get her defeated by rejecting votes by getting the police to lathi-charge in the night itself. Even though she has won the election. Through the application, the female candidate demanded recounting of votes before the returning officer at the tehsil election office.
