Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) conducted its Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) on Monday, with 75% of the registered candidates appearing in the exam.
The test, which serves as a gateway to PhD programmes in 13 disciplines, saw the highest number of candidates from pharmacy, computer science and mechanical engineering.
Out of the 217 registered aspirants, 163 candidates appeared for the test. The exam was conducted for 102 PhD seats in subjects including applied mathematics, applied physics, applied chemistry, data science, statistics, energy, instrumentation, electronics and instrumentation, electronics & telecommunication and information technology (IT).
There was tight security, with candidates undergoing verification through photo ID, document checks and biometric authentication.
The DAVV deployed two supervisors, a flying squad and set up a dedicated control room at its IET campus to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exam. Observers and university officials also made on-ground inspections to maintain transparency. No incidents of cheating were reported.
The DET comprised two papers: the first on research methodology and the second on subject-specific content. Each paper featured 50 multiple-choice questions, with one mark awarded for every correct answer and no negative marking. While many candidates found the research methodology section challenging, the subject-specific paper was reportedly easier.
DAVV PhD cell incharge Prof Ashesh Tiwari said that the answer key would be released by June 20. Candidates will have three to four days to file objections, with a fee of Rs 200 per question.
