Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a major drive against illegal LPG refilling and misuse, the district administration seized 42 gas cylinders from different locations of the city.
The biggest action was taken in Ravindra Nagar, where 14 cylinders, an electric motor, a weighing scale and a gas refilling pipe were confiscated from a house where an illegal gas refilling unit was being operated.
District supply controller M L Maru confirmed the total seizure and said that multiple teams are working under a special campaign launched on the directions of collector Asheesh Singh.
A formal case has been registered in the Ravindra Nagar incident. The inspection was conducted by a joint team including assistant supply officer Shiv Sundar Vyas, junior officers Mahadev Muvel, Rahul Sharma and Suchita Dubey.
The team found 7 domestic and 7 commercial BPCL gas cylinders stored across two floors, with evidence of active gas transfer from domestic to commercial cylinders — a clear violation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) act.
Officials have warned that such unauthorised practices in residential areas pose severe fire and safety hazards. The administration has vowed to continue the crackdown to ensure strict compliance and public safety across the district.
