3.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits MP's Mandsaur, Rajasthan | PTI
Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): A mild earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan and Mandsaur at 10:07 am on Thursday.
The epicentre was located 10 kilometres deep in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan. Despite its low intensity, the tremors caused panic among residents as many rushed out of their homes, shops and offices into open spaces.
In schools, teachers quickly acted to ensure the safety of students. At a government school in the Unda Khora area, as soon as the tremors were felt, teachers guided students to safe grounds. CCTV cameras in Dhammotar area also recorded the tremors.
The tremors were felt in various parts of the city, including Shri Ram Market, Akbari Market, Gandhi Chauraha and the bus station. Residents living in nearby colonies such as Nai Aabadi, Sadar Bazaar and Heera Colony also felt the tremors of earthquake.
The earthquake's effects extended into Madhya Pradesh, with mild tremors felt in Malhargarh, Rewas Devda and several villages. Fortunately, the shaking lasted only a few seconds, and there were no casualties or damage.
District administration and disaster management departments were on alert, prepared for any aftershocks. They urged the public to remain calm and rely on official sources for information and advised them to take necessary precautions during such events.
