According to information, Mahendra Bhil, a resident of Raghogarh in Guna district, was posted at the NTPC CISF unit in Sonbhadra (UP). He had come to attend a wedding in his village. The incident happened late Saturday night (around 1 AM-3 AM) during the wedding of Mohar Singh Bhil’s daughter in Sherpura Majra Aamlya.
According to Jawan’s brother Kadam Singh Bhil, the trouble had started when some members of the groom's side began picking up firewood that, apparently, belonged to the other villager. Nenu Bhil, a local, objected. This led to an argument which further turned violent. When Mahendra, his brother Kadam, and cousin Akash tried to intervene and stop the fight, they were attacked too. The accused, identified as Pappu Bhil, reportedly hit Mahendra on the head with a rod. Others, including Ramsingh and Dhirup Bhil, also beat up the family members. Mahendra collapsed after the blow to his head.
