A purported video of the incident is going viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the video, Khan can be seen first slapping the man and then hitting him with his slipper as he asks, "where is my bottle?" This isn't the first time Khan has been in the news for his wrongdoings. He was previously denied a visa to perform in the US, and he has been accused of smuggling foreign money.
Khan issues clarification
Later in the day, the singer released a video, clarifying why he thrashed the person. According to Khan, the bottle contained 'holy water' rather than alcohol. The 'servant' who was beaten also appears in the apology video and says that he had accidentally misplaced the said bottle. The person also clarified that Khan had apologised about his misconduct soon after he committed it.
In the video, Rahat also introduces a person as his driver who has apparently been working with him for 40 years. This man then goes on to say that in the past 40 years of his service, the singer has always been good to him.
