The district administration has released a list of missing individuals following flash floods and landslides in the Uttarkashi and Pauri Garhwal districts of Uttarakhand on August 5 and 6.
A total of 68 people have been reported missing in the Dharali disaster, including 24 Nepali nationals and 44 Indian citizens. 1,308 people have been rescued since August 5. NGRI experts have launched a search operation to trace the missing persons.
In the wake of a devastating natural disaster in Dharali, rescue operations continue as flash floods triggered by a cloudburst on Tuesday, August 5, have claimed at least five lives, with over 60 people feared missing or trapped.
The calamity, which struck the Kheer Ganga river area, destroyed several homes, hotels, and even a centuries-old temple. Continuous rainfall and road blockages are severely hampering rescue efforts. Helicopters have been deployed to aid in the operation, as road access to Dharali remains blocked by debris.
Earlier on Monday, as per the Chief Minister’s directive, financial assistance cheques of ₹5 lakh were distributed to the families affected by the disaster.
