Lucknow: Anurag Tiwari, a marine engineer from Lucknow working aboard a Panama vessel docked at Sharjah Port, then died under mysterious circumstances on June 29. The Directorate General of Shipping has written to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi urging necessary intervention.
According to official communication, Tiwari was employed as a 3rd engineer through Avishka Shipping Pvt Ltd under MUM-1015 RPS agency. He was found unconscious in the engine room. Crew members reportedly attempted CPR before shifting him to a hospital, where he was declared dead following an ECG.
The family has accused the company of abandoning them in their time of crisis. Anurag's father, Anil Kumar Tiwari, posted a public appeal on social media platform X, tagging the External Affairs Minister, urging government help in repatriating the body. “No help is being provided by the company,” the post reads. “We are struggling alone. Please help us bring back my son's body from the UAE.”
The Ministry of External Affairs, through its MADAD helpline, responded asking the family to contact them with necessary documents. Tiwari’s body is currently with Sharjah’s forensic department. The Indian Embassy in Dubai is in touch with local authorities. A company representative is expected to meet the family in Lucknow on July 4.
