Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati addressed a press conference in Lucknow on Thursday to mark her 70th birth anniversary, which party workers observe annually as Jan Kalyankari Divas (People’s Welfare Day). On the occasion, she extended New Year 2026 greetings to the public and said the day is dedicated to reviewing the BSP’s welfare-oriented governance.

Mayawati said senior party leaders use the occasion to discuss public welfare schemes implemented during the four terms of BSP rule in Uttar Pradesh, stressing that these initiatives were designed to benefit the common people. She asserted that, unlike other political parties, the BSP ensured that welfare measures were implemented on the ground, not merely announced.

Highlighting the party’s focus on Sarva Samaj, Mayawati claimed that the living conditions of various sections of society improved significantly under BSP governments. She said beneficiaries included poor labourers, farmers, unemployed youth, traders, women, students, workers, as well as Dalits, Adivasis, and religious minorities, including Muslims.

The BSP chief reiterated that social justice and inclusive development remain the core principles of her party’s political agenda.
