Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG) in Gorakhpur is emerging as a leading institution of higher education, setting benchmarks in academic excellence, medical education, technological innovation, and sustainability. Since its inauguration in 2021, the university has made rapid strides toward aligning with the National Education Policy, offering globally relevant, employment oriented courses, and maintaining a disciplined, vibrant campus culture.
MGUG has the distinction of being the first university in the country to conduct Student Parliament elections entirely online through its indigenously developed software. In its continuing commitment to green practices, the university is working toward becoming fully solar-powered, a goal expected to be realised in the near future.
As part of its infrastructure expansion, MGUG is inaugurating a new academic block, a Panchkarma Centre with 11 modern cottages, and a 1500 seat auditorium. Additionally, the foundation stone has been laid for a girl's hostel that will house 1000 students and feature contemporary amenities.
These developments reflect the university’s commitment to combining academic rigour with student welfare. Run by the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, MGUG prioritises both modern and Ayurvedic medical education. It currently offers over two dozen advanced programs, including MBBS, BAMS, Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences, Agriculture, and Business Administration.

These partnerships aim to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and capacity-building across disciplines.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Surinder Singh Kak notes that the university is playing a pivotal role in transforming Gorakhpur into a 'Knowledge City' by the centenary year of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in 2032.
