Northeast India has been affected by heavy rainfall, landslides, and widespread flooding in recent days. Widespread rainfall and changing weather conditions are expected across the county in the upcoming days. People from numerous states, including Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, have been affected by rainfall over four days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in many states as heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the upcoming days, and the rainfall is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in the rest of the Northeast states of India.
IMD issued rain alert in these regions
According to the IMD, the rainfall is likely to persist in the Northeast states for the next seven days. The weather department has issued an orange alert for Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya. A yellow alert has been issued in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram. The rainfall will likely be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Thundershowers and gusty winds are predicted in these states
The weather department has said that part of northwest India, including Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, are forecasted to experience thundershowers and it will be accompanied by gusty winds ranging between 40-50 kmph until June 5.
