Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth Rs 5,400 crore in West Bengal on Friday, unveiling major initiatives across the oil and gas, power, rail, and road sectors to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and clean energy in the region.

Following the event, he addressed a public rally in Durgapur, where he launched a scathing attack at the TMC-led state government, stating, "The TMC government has become a barrier between West Bengal and development."

Highlighting the issue of unemployment in the state, the Prime Minister reflected, "There was a time when West Bengal stood as the hub of India’s progress—a thriving centre for businesses, drawing talent from across the country. Cities like Durgapur, Bardhaman, and Asansol were pivotal in driving the nation’s industrial growth."

"Yet, the situation has changed drastically. Today, Bengal’s youth are forced to migrate for opportunities. Instead of new industries flourishing, existing ones are shutting down. We must urgently lift Bengal out of this crisis," he asserted.

"The projects launched today symbolise this transformation. Bengal desires change. Bengal demands development," he declared.

Reassuring the people of West Bengal, he expressed confidence in the state’s potential resurgence: "Once the BJP government assumes office, Bengal can reclaim its status among India’s top industrial states within a few years. This is my firm conviction."

"I assure the youth that Bengal’s challenges can be resolved. With a new government, the state can emerge as a leading industrial powerhouse," he added.

Launching a sharp critique against Mamata Banerjee’s party, the Prime Minister accused the TMC of stifling investment through its "Gunda Tax" culture.

"The state’s resources are controlled by the mafia, while government policies are deliberately crafted to facilitate rampant corruption among ministers," he alleged.
