Mumbai, March 22: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed its probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, filing a closure report in court on Saturday (March 22).
Rajput (34) was found hanging at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. The initial investigation by Mumbai Police suggested suicide, as there was no evidence of forced entry, later depression was suspected as a factor.
However, his family later filed an FIR in Patna against Rhea Chakraborty and others, accusing them of abetment to suicide and financial fraud. This sparked a jurisdictional dispute between the Bihar and Mumbai Police.
With no evidence of foul play emerging, the CBI has now concluded its investigation, ruling out any criminal involvement.
