Varanasi: Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj was seen actively participating in paddy plantation with local women in her native Karkhiyaon village, Varanasi,. She shared a video of herself planting paddy in her field on Instagram, which quickly went viral.

Despite representing the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur, MP Saroj's actions in her Varanasi village resonated with many. Witnessing the women planting, she joined them, personally planting paddy in approximately 5 biswa of land.

Her hands-on approach surprised onlookers, with many on social media commending her as a grassroots leader.

In other news, MP Saroj has also addressed the severe electricity crisis in Jaunpur.

She recently wrote to the Energy Minister, highlighting continuous power cuts in both rural and urban areas, along with issues like burnt transformers and voltage fluctuations.

This disruption is adversely affecting paddy cultivation in villages like Rikewipur, Kohra, and Nayepur in Mariahu tehsil, impacting students' studies, causing financial losses for small businesses, and hindering hospital services.

MP Saroj has called for a high-level inquiry into UPPCL's functioning, demanding repairs, an end to power cuts, and planning for new grids.
