Missile Debris Found In Punjab Border District Villages

Chandigarh: Panic gripped residents of Punjab’s border district of Amritsar in the wee hours of Thursday after they heard explosions and saw flashes of light illuminating the skyline and a power shutdown amid the escalating tension between India and Pakistan following ``Op Sindoor’’ launched by Indian armed forces targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday.

The villagers held that there was panic all around as amid the explosions, a part of a missile fell in village Jethuwal around 1.30 am following which they informed the police. Jethuwal village is located on the Amritsar-Batala road.

Likewise, a part of a missile was also spotted in village Makhan Windi, located close to the village Jethuwal, following which the defence and police personnel arrived at the spot.

Even though no loss to life and property was reported, the incidents caused panic in the area.

Likewise, debris, which the residents claimed also appeared to be part of some explosives, were recovered from village Pandher, which falls under Majitha police station, located in the close proximity of district Amritsar. Notably, all these areas are located within 30 km from the border with Pakistan.

However, even though there was no information available from defence or police officials till filing this report, talks were agog that the same was in the wake of the retaliation of Pakistan after May 7 ``Op Sindoor’’ executed by Indian Armed Forces against terror sites in Pakistan and PoK.

Also, it was because of these developments that the Amritsar airport has also been shut down since Wednesday morning, the reasoned.

The police officials, who did not want to be named, held that they could not say whether it was part of Indian or Pakistani missiles.
