Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has questioned the survey of Madarsas conducted by Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati slams Yogi govt

Mayawati on Wednesday said that normally survey is being conducted to provide budgetary allocation for the salary of teachers and staff of Madarsas. UP government should make it clear if it is going to provide financial support to the unaided Madarsas. BSP chief said that during her tenure as the chief minister she had included 100 Madarsas in the UP board.

According to her the UP government had constituted a special team for survey of Madarsas being run through public funding. The survey has found that more than 7500 unrecognised Madarsas have been imparting education to poor children. Targeting previous Congress government for the poor state of minority community, BSP chief said that in the name of modernisation of the Madarsas, it started providing training of making children carpenter, mechanic and driver.

This was nothing but an insult of Madarsas and their students. She said that BJP government too is making plans on similar lines. The BSP leader said that condition of government run schools in UP and other states have worsened. The BJP governments have stopped taking care of these schools as poor children go there for education. Meanwhile the survey of Madarsas conducted by UP government has been completed last week.

In the month long survey 7500 unrecognised Madarsas have been found. Maximum 585 unrecognised Madarsas have been found in Moradabad district followed by 350 in Basti and 240 in Muzaffarnagar district. Reacting sharply at Mayawati's statement minority welfare minister in UP government, Danish Azad Ansari said BJP is the only party which sincerely works for the betterment of minorities. He said that dejected opposition is trying to mislead the minorities.
