Jammu And Kashmir: Joint Anti-Terror Operation Launched In Upper Reaches Of Kathua
Security forces have launched an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua. The joint operation is being carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Security forces on Tuesday launched an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua. The joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
The cordon and search operation has been underway in the upper reaches of Lowang and Sarthal in the Bani area since this morning, officials said as reported by PTI. Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police so conducted a thorough search operation Manohar Gopala and Shatala camp area in Samba district for several hours on Tuesday morning.
The development came days after two terrorists were killed by security forces an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar. One Army jawan also lost his life in the gunfight. The encounter broke out in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district on May 22.
Earlier this month, six terrorist were killed in two separate encounters in the Keller area of Shopian and Nadar area of Tral in Pulwama district.
Keller Encounter:
On May 14, three terrorists affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter in Shopian. The operation was codenamed as 'Operation Keller'. According to sources, one of the terrorists was identified as Shahid Kuttay, son of Mohd Yousuf Kuttay and a resident of Chotipora Heerpora in Shopian.
Tral Encounter:
Three terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist group were eliminated in Tral on May 15. These terrorists were identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmed Bhat.
