Indian Warship INS Sumedha Extends Aid To Pakistani Crew Aboard Iranian Fishing Vessel Al Rahmani
The warship, INS Sumedha deployed for anti-piracy operations in the Arabian Sea, intercepted fishing vessel Al Rahmani in early hours of April 30th.

New Delhi: Indian Navy warship patrolling Arabian Sea on anti piracy mission provided critical medical assistance to an Iranian Fishing Vessel with 20 Pakistani crew for a near drowning case of one if its crew member. The Indian Navy responding to the distress call from Iranian flagged fishing vessel FV Al Rahmani rushing INS Sumedha in the vicinity with medical specialists to rendered medical assistance to the crew member experiencing laboured breathing with active seizures.
“Post medical management, the patient was oriented, conscious and relieved clinically,” confirmed Indian Navy spokesperson.
Meanwhile a massive Rs 60,000 crore tender for contract to modernise the submarine fleet to build six stealth submarines equipped with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology, enabling prolonged underwater operations was started by the Indian Navy with trials of competiting teams at Mazgaon Docks, Mumbai.
The trials of the German submarine’s Air Independent Propulsion system were conducted in Kiel in the last week of March in Germany to construction of stealth submarines for India’s programme in collaboration with Germany and Spain. Spanish Navantia and India's Larsen and Toubro are partners for this mega defence project.
The modernisation of the Indian Navy assets including the submarine fleets is to deter the growing Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean Region. “Pakistan acquisition of the first of eight advanced Hangor class Chinese submarine is a proxy intrusion in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea underwater domain,” warned defence experts on strategy of new stealth submarine for Pakistan was Beijing’s way of “building a pressure point” on India.
