'I Salute Rhea Chakraborty...': Actress' Lawyer After CBI Files Closure Report In Sushant Rajput Death Case

After nearly five years of investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The investigating agency has given actress Rhea Chakraborty a clean chit in the case.

Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, has responded to the development. Maneshinde welcomed the CBI's report and decision, while saluting the actress for enduring significant hardship throughout the ordeal.

Speaking to a private channel, Maneshinde stated, "I had given Rhea a clean chit from day one because Sushant Singh Rajput's death was entirely a suicide. Rhea Chakraborty had no involvement in it. Rhea had left Sushant's house six days before the incident and was not in contact with him afterward."

"I don't know on what basis Rhea was dragged into this case. The narrative that people circulated has now been proven completely false by the CBI report. Rhea Chakraborty was innocent from day one. That's why she fought this case like a tiger. I used to call her the Bengal Tiger. I salute Rhea for enduring so much, including spending 27 days in jail," Maneshinde added.

The CBI found no evidence indicating that Sushant died by suicide due to any instigation from Rhea. According to reports, the CBI had taken over the investigation from the Bihar Police, which had registered an abetment of suicide case based on a complaint filed by Sushant's father, K.K. Singh.

In an earlier statement, Maneshinde said that the amount of "false narrative in the social media and electronic media was totally uncalled for." He added, "Due to the pandemic, everyone was glued to the television and social media in the absence of anything happening in the country. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigative authorities."

Rajput, 34, was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. In his complaint to the Bihar Police, Rajput's father had alleged that Chakraborty, along with her family members, misappropriated his son's money, a charge she denied in television interviews.
