Gujarat Emerges As Top Investment Destination With USD 73.9 Billion FDI, Says CM Bhupendra Patel

Gandhinagar, Aug 7: Gujarat has emerged as a global gateway to the future through industrial development and has become the 'Best Choice of Investment' for new ventures and foreign business capital, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Friday.

Citing the recently released Investment Friendliness Index 2026 by apex central government think tank NITI Aayog, he noted Gujarat was ranked first in the country in attracting foreign capital for setting up businesses.

The CM was speaking at the 'Viksit Gujarat Summit 2026' organised at GIFT City in Gandhinagar under his chairmanship.

Gujarat's investment growth

"Owing to the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences, the state has emerged as a global gateway to the future through industrial development and has become the best choice of investment for new industries and foreign investments," an official release quoted Patel as saying at the gathering.

"Gujarat received cumulative FDI worth USD 73.9 billion between April 2020 and 2025 and has consistently remained the country's top destination for cumulative FDI since 2019," he maintained.

The state government provides entrepreneurs with a robust industrial ecosystem backed by sustainable governance and policy-driven administration, resulting in employment generation, promotion of innovation, and improvement in citizens' quality of life, the CM observed.

Technology and semiconductor push

Patel said semiconductor plants in Gujarat are establishing the state as a major player on the global technology map.

"Three semiconductor plants have become operational in Gujarat, establishing the state as a major player on the global technology map. Along with this new industry, an entirely new ecosystem is taking shape. The government recently announced the GCC and Data Centre Policy, which will facilitate the establishment of hyperscale data centres in the coming years," he told the summit.

Gujarat will derive significant benefits from the tax holiday announced by the central government for data centres until 2047, Patel maintained.

The event was attended by Gujarat Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia, Denmark's ambassador to India Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen and other officials.

India-Denmark green cooperation

Ambassador Kristensen lauded the integrated use of solar and wind energy, and battery storage, along with the massive scale of the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch district.

"This project (Energy Park) has the potential not only to redefine India's clean energy future, but also to provide a new direction for the global clean energy transition," he noted.

Through the Green Strategic Partnership between Denmark and India, economic development and environmental sustainability are progressing together, Kristensen added.

Leading Danish companies are investing in various industries across Gujarat, including Pipavav Port, creating new employment opportunities and becoming key partners in the state's development through advanced technologies, the envoy emphasised.

The cooperation between India and Denmark in the fields of education and research is growing stronger, Kristensen noted.

Both nations are jointly working towards developing Gujarat as a global hub through initiatives such as offshore wind energy development and the establishment of a Green Shipping Corridor, the ambassador said.

This cooperation extends from sustainable dairy production to education and advanced research. The India-Denmark partnership is building a strong and inspiring future in the areas of innovation, green technology, investment, and sustainable development, he added.
