Ghaziabad: A shocking incident of domestic violence emerged from Ghaziabad, where a woman and her mother were caught on CCTV brutally assaulting her elderly mother-in-law. The incident, which took place on July 1, only came to light after disturbing footage of the assault went viral on social media.
The accused, identified as Akanksha, is seen in the footage pushing, dragging and mercilessly beating her mother-in-law, Sudesh Devi, inside the latter’s home. Akanksha’s mother also joins in the assault. Despite the severity of the attack, the victim was reportedly made to visit the police station multiple times in search of justice.

Police Initially Didn't Register Complaint
Sudesh Devi’s initial attempts to get an FIR registered were allegedly dismissed, reportedly due to Akanksha’s family having connections within the police department.
The repeated delays only added to the trauma faced by the elderly victim, who had already suffered a violent physical assault at the hands of her daughter-in-law and the latter’s mother.
Viral Video Forced Polie to Act
It was only after the CCTV footage surfaced online and sparked public outrage that the police were compelled to register an FIR. Officials have now confirmed that both Akanksha and her mother have been booked in connection with the incident.
Social media users widely condemned the incident, calling for stringent legal action against the accused.
