Moradabad: In a horrifying incident, a 14-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly kidnapped and then reportedly gangraped in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad. The incident surfaced on Wednesday. According to the police, one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the girl was kidnapped by three men near her school. She was then reportedly gangraped. The accused have been identified as Salman, Zubair, Rashid, and Arif. As per the girl's family, she was abducted on January 2 while she was on her way to a tailor, reported news agency PTI quoting Station House Officer (SHO) Bhagatpur police station Sanjay Kumar Panchal.
The survivor's family filed a complaint in which they mentioned that an 'Om' tattoo on her hand was burnt by the accused. "The accused allegedly burnt an 'Om' tattoo on her hand with acid, forcibly fed her meat, and subjected her to further torture," Panchal said citing the police complaint by the survivor's family members.
The accused allegedly kidnapped her in a car by making her unconscious with an intoxicant, the police officer said citing the complaint. According to the complaint, the minor was then allegedly held captive in a room and was gangraped repeatedly, the SHO said as reported by PTI.
The accused also allegedly threatened to kill her and the family if she told anyone about the incident, he added. "She was later taken to the Bhojpur area and locked in another room, from which she eventually escaped and returned home to her aunt, a few days ago," Panchal said.
The girl was gangraped for two months, reported India Today. The girl managed to escape and returned home on March 2, the media report added.
The girl's family further alleged that the accused also threatened them to drop the case, he said. "One of the accused, Salman, was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently sent to jail. The investigation is ongoing," Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh told the news agency.
A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and SC/ST(Prevention of atrocities) Act.
