Kolkata: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday had launched ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra’ from his Bhabanipur constituency ahead of the Independence Day.
After marching from Survey building to Hazra more, addressing the gathering Adhikari said that this yatra is conducted to strengthen nationalism and patriotism.
“A nationalist government is formed in Bengal now. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged people to march with the national flag in hand with pride and affection. On August 10 another such yatra will be conducted from Netaji’s statue till gate no 7 of Birla Planetarium with 50000 participants. As a MLA of Bhabanipur I have launched the programme here and also as the Chief Minister it is my responsibility to serve the people,” said Adhikari.
Slamming the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, Adhikari said that the previous government never responded to the Prime Minister’s call for Tiranga Yatra.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also mentioned that for the first time around 70 lakh national flags had been distributed across districts and subdivisions in Bengal ahead of Independence Day.
